In other news, I’m thinking of renaming ThoughtPad Pro to ThoughtPad Free because it seems to be confusing some people.

david:

Jacob’s reorganizing the Help docs.

This is basically the functionality that inspired ThoughtPad. Being able to group notes into folders helps bring mental clarity.

What is ThoughtPad for?

It’s important to organize your thoughts. That’s what ThoughtPad is for. It has folders to separate different types of thoughts and every main screen has a “Create New Note” button so you can get everything written down that needs to be considered.

Organizing thoughts is all about removing confusion and getting clear about what to do. There are lots of tools to help you do this like paper and index cards. ThoughtPad is great when you can’t use these, like on a bus or when it’s dark. It was designed to work like a stack of index cards that you can write on and organize into groups.

ThoughtPad is about mental clarity. It’s not about syncing and having your notes anywhere. If you are looking for something with sync, I recommend Simplenote.

ThoughtPad Pro is now available on the App Store

The free version of ThoughtPad is now available for download. It is a feature limited version of the original version of the ThoughtPad notepad application that can be upgraded to the full version. Get it from iTunes now (this link opens iTunes).

New Trial Version of ThoughtPad

With the recent development of being able to distribute free applications with paid upgrades on the App Store, I have decided to create a free version of ThoughtPad that will be called ThoughtPad Pro (available soon). It will include ads and contain a subset of the features that are in the full version. A paid upgrade will remove the ads and unlock the batch editing toolbar. The reason for the free version is so people can try the app before buying it.

The upgraded and original version will be the same app. All updates will be made to both applications, so if you bought the original you’ll have the same thing as the Pro version. Thank you for supporting ThoughtPad.

New Feature In ThoughtPad 1.1

ThoughtPad 1.1 has a new feature that lets you quickly delete all the notes in multiple folders. To use this feature, go to the “Folders” screen and press the edit button. Select the folders that you clear and press the trash can button. There is a new option in the action menu that says “Delete Notes Only” that will clear the notes from a folder without deleting the folder.

1.1 is available now.

ThoughtPad is Now Available!

ThoughtPad has been approved by Apple and is now available on the App Store.
